Ovid Earl Flowers and Florence Faye Dunham were married on December 10, 1916. Florence was 14 years old.
Ovid Earl and Florence Faye were married for 19 years when Ovid had a massive heart attack and died.
The story goes like this. His Oldest daughter, Olive Lucretia Flowers fell in love
with a man named Coleman Henry Allen and they wanted to get married but Olive's father forbid it as he did not think
their marriage would be a good one.
Olive and Coleman ran away and eloped. I am not sure if they went to Monroe, LA or Texas. This I am trying to find out
and when I do I will update this info.
When Olive's father, found out he was so upset that he went out to the fields to work and he work
hard and long the whole day until he was exhausted. He came in to the house to rest.
He walked into the house and leaned over his chair, had a heart attack and died.
Ovid Earl and Florence had 6 Children in the 19 years they were married.
After Ovid Earl died, Florence raised the 5 other children by herself.
Florence was a strong women and took care of her family on her own until they were grown and married.
Florence enjoyed many happy years with her children, grand-children, and great grand-children before she died.
Florence died February 3, 1997
At the time of her death she only had 4 children still living.
Florence Faye Dunham was a wonderful woman with a tender smile for everyone she met.
She loved the family reunions we use to have because she would get to see family that she hadn't seen in a long time.
